The late Pushpam, known as Thavamany in the village, she was the daughter of Avram Kurukulam Sebastiampilli and Alexandria Pon Rasathi Sebastiampillai. Born on 7th January 1932, Pushpam was the second among 5 siblings. A past student of the Ilavalai Convent, Pushpam was blessed with an older brother the late Abraham Lincoln,
younger brothers, the late Francis (Kunam Master) Sebastiampillai, the late Emmanuel Tharman) Sebastiampillai and the late Kunamani Sebastiampillai who passed away as a toddler, as siblings.
After completing her sudies, she became the first female to get into employment from Passaiyoor. Pushpam initially started her career as an English teacher in Mullaitheevu, and later joined the Ceylon Posts and Telecommunications department, in its Jaffna office as a telephone operator and moved to the Colombo head office with her husband Benjamin Wignarajah a Postmaster in 1959. She rose up in her ranks and retired as the Eastern Provincial head of the telecommunications department, a staff position next to the chief engineer.
She was good in composing English poems and also a community oriented individual, she also was one of the co-founders of Passur Maathar Sangam, a womens organization to empower the women of Passaiyoor. She wedded her love of life, Benjamin Wignarajah, a Postmaster from Usan Mirusuvil and had three children, Roy Wignarajah, Judie Wignrajah and Roshan Wignarajah.
Pushpam emigrated to Canada with her family in 1990 and was blessed to give her two sons in marriage and see her four grandchildren, before her demise. She was called to the lords kingdom on May 10th 2000 while being surrounded by her family, her youngest brother Tharman, friends and in-laws.
